Well, that’s another Stathern Festival done and dusted, and with all the rain it was a very different festival to our last two that both experienced scorching heat. Considering the number of events that were being cancelled in and around the Vale, I’m delighted to report that every single one of our 26 events went ahead, and the worst we had to cope with was pushing cars out of the mud in our two car parks, and having to change the Strawberry Tea to the Village Institute.

We reached a number of records last year – 13 organisations and 5 individuals putting on events, 60 sponsors, target or maximum numbers at a great many of the events, and best of all just over £10,000 raised. Most of this (over £9500) will be going to village and Vale causes, with the remainder being retained to improve facilities for this coming year (yes we are mad enough to be thinking about another festival!).

 
People attended from much further afield, such as coming from London for the 10K Road Race, and one from Canada.
 
We are very much indebted to the pubs in the village for their support, particularly the Red Lion which was vital to the success of the Party in the Park. We are also indebted to our local shops for their support, particularly Pat in the General Stores who acted as our main ticket office. We would also like to thank the Parish Council for their continuing financial support, which is much appreciated.
