The festival always has the famous Party in the Park as one of the first major events.
In this, local bands, arts goups and the school take an active part, cumulating with music late into the evening.
The Party in the Park also gives a platform for new local groups to perform in public for the first time and has acted as a chance for new local talent to get their first chance to play in public.
The evening ends with the famous Belvoir Academy band performing all time favourites from the 70's and 80's and dancing into the night.
The Party in the Park, loved by the local children, also has stalls and fairground attractions. There is a barbecue and many other events thoughout the day to amuse and entertain.
Book early if you would like to bring a stall and display your wares. Space is limited!
Events of all sorts are held each day of the 10 day festival. During the midweek, there is usually a Classical Concert in the Church, with a different theme each year. This photo is of the Viennese evening.
There are bingo evenings, family events, the fun dog show, art workshops, exhibitions, and of course many events for the children throughout the week.
The Summer Ball at the Red Lion is a highlight of the first week, raising monies for local causes such as the church and others. The ball is a black tie affair at the renowned Red Lion, and is held in a marquee in the garden. The ball raises money through a raffle and also an auction which has included in the past holidays, tickets to events and shows, and other events. Tickets for this sell out very early!
Jazz at the Plough is the final event of 25 events in the 10 days. This famous event gives everyone a chance to relax to the music of local jazz bands through out the evening. It is supported by a hog roast and some amazing music!
Even people who are not normally into jazz really enjoy this music night’
